Over the last couple days I’ve received very supportive and encouraging comments and emails from several people I’ve never even met. In the process I also discovered some great links to new blogs by others with hearing loss. I hope to get to know all of you better! In light of all that, the following quiz result is very fitting:

Apparently fondue is making some sort of comeback. Until we opened our new fondue set on Christmas, I would have not been able to tell you what fondue was exactly. However, I would have been able to paint you a very interesting, vague, and curiously erotic idea of what fondue might be. My associations were: cheese, melted, flowing chocolate, the ’70s, and group orgies. How did my brain ever manage to glean these peculiar associations without ever actually learning what fondue IS? At any rate, for New Year’s Eve I made a cheese apple cider scallion concoction that tasted fantastic (and was consumed communally but fully clothed, thank you). Now I know what fondue is and I am a fan.
Today I was on a home visit and the woman’s cat came up to me and sat in my lap for several minutes. The woman couldn’t believe it. She said this cat always hides and most people have never even seen it. I have been told this before and I’m not sure what this could possibly mean. It is probably something weird and random about me that would only make sense to a cat, but I choose to consider it as an ultimate compliment. Cat whisperer! Unless it is the lesbian bulimic princess in which case she needs to give me some space.
The temp here in northern Vermont may hit 60 this weekend. I really hope it is primarily the El Nino and not global warming that is behind this.
